On the 3rd January 2005, Craig Ferguson took over as host of The Late Late Show. He’d previously guest hosted for Craig Kilborn a few times. This is worth a watch.
A few things to note. He’s already clearly bored/uncomfy with the monologue format, and within months he would abandon it for something much more loose.
How low is his chair?
I like the immediate Larry Sanders-esque moment of a guest being a past liaison. And the show they mention is Maybe This Time.
The Late Late Show would quickly shape itself around Craig, and by 2009, and the 1000th episode, they could do things like this.
