I wanted to write a short blog this morning about an advert I vividly remember, and then embed a video of it for you to watch and forget. The trouble is, I can’t find it anywhere. But I’m sure it exists.
It aired in the late 1990s or early 2000s, and was for Heinz Tomato Ketchup. There were lots of lingering close ups, loads of white on the screen, and Simon Pegg doing the voice over. I remember it well:
There are a few things in the world slower than Heinz Tomato Ketchup, except perhaps marmalade, and rocks. Heinz Tomato Ketchup, now faster than marmalade, and rocks.
Always stuck with me that one did, and so did the follow up advert, using similar visuals, with a Pegg voice over talking about the Est’d on the bottle. But it turns out that was a Leo Burnett campaign for the USA circa 2002.
It’s entirely possible this was re-shot, or just re-voiced for the UK market, but I can’t for the life of me find the other one. Which is a shame. Am I imagining it?
