It’s hard to believe now, but there was a time when game show contestants got to fire a real crossbow over the phone in a live television studio.

This is The Golden Shot, and if only there was some way this format could be combined with The X-Factor.

Anyway, here’s the first ten minutes of a show broadcast on 13th December, 1970. Bob uses it as a not-so-sneaky opportunity to plug a new book he’s had a hand in. He also makes a joke about recording the show, which seems anachronistic to me, but belies Bob’s secret life as a tele-archivist. (There are a few of-their-time jokes in this, be aware.)
