It’s the last in the current series today.
Q: What do you do when you can’t think of the right word?
Morgan Gallagher: Keep working at it, by staring at the page and putting in lots of new words and trying them out. I almost never refer to reference guides of any sort. I find the word has to grow organically from me, in order to feel right. I do sometimes use a thesaurus, to look around the word, and how others see it. That can sometimes help me find the word. But usually, I just give myself brain strain.
Morgan’s book Changeling will be released on April 10th. Read about it here.

For what it’s worth, here’s what I do when I can’t think of the right word.
I type WORD, and carry on writing. By the time I come back to it, my brain has usually figured out what it should be. Why waste time when you’re on a roll? You might be able to get several scenes/pages done in that time.
