If You See Ads, Tell Him

In 1986, the British government deliberately, and massively undervalued the price of a public utility, convincing people to buy these cheap shares in order to sell them on for a small profit, so that a load of rich people could take ownership of British Gas for much less than it’s true market value.

In order to do this, they ran a slick marketing campaign, with a weird, but catchy slogan.
